Hi all, first time Apple owner. 7ish year old ‘malus domestica belle de boskoop’. I bought it in a pot this year and was planted in May. It seems healthy and fruited well.

Now it’s time to prune, I’ve removed dead branches and around 1/3 of new growth as well as some spindly branches in the centre and any that were rubbing.

I know it’s hard to see from the photo but any other advice would be great. Not sure if the branches seem too long still or if I should aim to shape it at all.

Thanks in advance

I think it looks very well pruned. You can definitely have a pigeon fly between the branches with no trouble, so it has very good air circulation. You might remove that one small branch that is growing in towards the center is all I might do. You opened up the center so that sunshine can get to all parts of the tree, and I don't think you should do anything else to it.

Thank you! 🙏 I’ll consider the branch in the middle. I think I left it to see how it goes. I appreciate your thoughts.
