Hi all!

What gardening books do you swear by as a gardener to use as a reference guide or to learn new valuable information?

If you are growing vegetables, we would suggest Alan Buckingham's ''Allotment month by month'' and another good one is ''The Victorian kitchen garden companion'' we can't remember the author. Made the mistake of lending it to someone, and didn't get it back

Hi Rob,

As a gardener, some go-to reference books include "The Well-Tempered Garden" by Christopher Lloyd for its insightful wisdom, "The Vegetable Gardener's Bible" by Edward C. Smith for practical advice, and "Planting: A New Perspective" by Piet Oudolf and Noel Kingsbury for innovative ideas. "The Complete Manual of Organic Gardening" by Steve Solomon is fantastic for organic methods. For beginners, "Rodale's Basic Organic Gardening" offers a great start. Lastly, "The Flower Gardener's Bible" by Lewis and Nancy Hill imparts valuable flower-specific knowledge. These books provide a wealth of knowledge for gardeners of all levels. Happy gardening!

Yes, that's the one! Zigs can actually quote bits from the book in the Harry Dodson accent which is amusing to say the least.....such as ''Round about the 29th of this month is about the last time you can plant something and get a crop this year - you might get a leek that is as thick as your finger which is enough to keep cook happy in the big house'' this quote of course being from a distant memory - about 30 years ago ;)
