Here in the United States there is yearly publishing called the Farmer's Almanac. It is a basic crop guide. It tells you when to plant your seeds/root crops and gives you basic weather guidelines for the year. My family always followed the Farmer's Almanac every year and I must say that they always had good luck with their gardens.

I tend to follow the Farmer's Almanac and their guidelines now as well. Does anyone else living in the states do this?

Sadly here they don't print that kind of almanacs, but I can imagine how useful they can be. I believe those almanacs aren't that accurate anymore tho, since it seems the weather all around the world is changing so much! I think gardening will be harder and harder each year that passes by, the weather is so unpredictable nowadays!

Yes! I actually learned to follow the almanac by watching and listening to my mom at an early age. I'm now 31 and still follow it. My mom swears by the book so in the end, she has big and beautiful gardens.

It's the first time when I hear of the Farmer's Almanac. It would be great if there was something like this in my country. It sounds very useful!
On the other hand, whenever I have a gardening problem, I always come here, to this forum, so I really don't need anything else:)

I have hard about the Farmer's Almanac for many years. I have not bought one, but I have heard about their weather predictions, a year out... It kind of creeps me out a little how they seem to know this when the weather people at even out top meteorological institutes don't... I personally don't think I want to have one because I don't know what's behind it. I wouldn't want to bring something tied with evil practices into my home, if that's what's going on. I am certainly not saying that it is, I just feel creeped out by it and don't want to take the chance.
