Okay so my friends gave me a Tree Of Hope as house warming gift. It's starting to die and I have no idea how I can save it. It's also storm season here in WA so the temperature has drastically changed in my house since I first received him in the summertime. So could this be a factor of why this little guy is trying to die on me?

P.s My little hope tree is an potted Oak Bonsai Tree.

I've never tried growing Tree Of Hope, I don't even know what it looks like, but I think that your little guy may want to go dormant. I would move him to a cold room and let him rest. All my miniature roses look like they're dying too, but it's natural, they do this every year;)

@claudine Thanks I'll try that then. The whole Tree of Hope was our failed attempt at doing something like the "Sister hood of the traveling pants" books. But just with a Bonsai tree instead.

How frequently are you watering it?
Over-watering is the number one cause of houseplant demise.

From what I know, some bonsais needed to be watered 3 or 4 times a day but on small doses. Depending on the potting material, water does not last the whole day when watered in the morning especially when the weather is pretty warm. Yes, too much water can drown any plant. Don't forget that they also need sunlight although too much sun is not good.

This all great info. I'm still not sure what I should do with him, But I'm willing to try anything to save him.

Interesting...I just did a little reading on bonsai trees to educate myself, and as @Corzhens says they need to be watered quite frequently, depending on the growing medium, temperature & humidity, etc. Some good nuanced info here:

Three times a day seems a bit excessive to me, maybe try cutting back the watering as long as that doesn't make yours dry out completely?
A photo of what is going on might help too.

I agree that the 3 times watering may look excessive. But take note that water needed to irrigate a bonsai is in small amount only. When my father-in-law had a bonsai, I would see him spraying water. That would serve as the irrigation because he said it is not good to give the bonsai too much water. It is better to give it water (in small amounts) frequently.
