In the Oklahoma panhandle we get peaches about 1 in 3 years due to late spring freezes. This year our contender bloomed for 2 days then suffered through a 20F night. It looks like the peaches did not make it.

My wife has done some tree grafting. I am wondering if anyone knows which dwarf root stock I could use with the contender to create smaller version. The one we have is maybe 12 or 15 feet high and I would like to cut that down to 6 to 10 feet so I can grow it in a hoop house or even a pot.

We have root stock from stella cherries but from what I have been reading it could be one of several varieties. But I think both are stony fruit and may work.
