All plants need some amount of water. If you are in a drought situation or if other nearby plants looked stressed, give the tree a deep watering, not just a sprinkle on the surface of the ground. One deep watering (which means giving the tree about one gallon of water for each inch of trunk diameter) every two weeks should keep it growing and producing.
