I’m planning on building the box with this plant in it, but I need to know what type of plant this is. Does anyone know?

A good pal of mine had a lovely stand of Black bamboo in his garden. But the bamboo was growing in fairly low light (not growing quickly, i.e.). Black bamboo isn't nearly as invasive as Golden bamboo. Black bamboo is slower to expand (runners) and somewhat easier to control. We have a huge stand of Golden bamboo (Phyllostachys aurea) ---- as a 40' long x 3' wide "fence." It's a lot of work, especially after a good rain, to keep it under control.
If you keep your bamboo trapped in a planter, you should be okay.
