I bought a packet of "mixed summer squash" seed and can identify all the included squash except this one. Can anyone tell me what it is? This one is about 6" across.

Thank you, and if you have recipes to share, that would be helpful, too!:)

That's a variety of Peter Pan Squash, also known as scalloped squash. 6 inches is a little large for best eating

Yes! My favourite squash. Also known as patty pan squash.

Great for sauteeing, it's firmer and less seedy (when smaller) than zucchini or yellow squash.

Patty Pan squash.... I love it, you can cook it anyway you do other squash. We like it when it is very small bite size steamed whole, it is also a good squash to add in other dishes because it is firmer so it holds it's consistency & flavor.

Thank you, all! According to the site that Beverly referenced, it is a very old type, dating back to at least to 1591, and that site has some great recipes, too.
I'll pick any others smaller, now that I know what size is optimal, and I'll try some of the recipes (Parmesan Crusted squash, yum!)
