Divining

Has anyone every used divining as a method of finding water? Has it worked? I think this method of finding water has been largely discredited, but it was used for years as a method of finding water. It might be a way to find a good place to plant a garden if you need a good water table of some sort. There are certain branches that seem to work better than others for this entire process.

I don't know about finding water but I can personally attest to the fact that it works in finding lost underground water lines and lost septic tanks because I have done it on more than a few occasions while doing renovations. As for a garden location who knows. I too have heard about old timers using a forked willow branch or some other thing. I always used a brass coat hanger

The local drunk use to divine when one needed a new well. He would quiver and shake as if he needed a drink. We found water but probably would have done so without the show. I was a kid and found it highly amusing. Nobody believed in it, but it broke the monotomy of farm life..

There is something very mystical about it. I remember I saw it on TV when I was a kid and had to go and try it out. Needless to say, I found no water. Maybe if you know what you are doing you will be able to utilize it as a way to find the water you need for your purposes.
Even the military used it at one time.
