Mid-January a friend discovered a bag of tulip bulbs he had contracted to plant long before, the ground was frozen solid. He made holes with a crowbar and put them in. Come Spring they all came up fine and flowered. Tulips are really tough.

In the UK we get the amounts of the different elements in fertilisers printed on the side of the packet, below it is a second list for Ireland, which is different. This is because the British authorities require the total amount, but the Irish demand the available amount, which is lower because some is in forms the plant can't access, but more informative for the grower.
Worth noting that bone meal and seaweed extracts contain little of the main fertilisers, but they are very good for supplying trace elements.
BTW. Bone meal was discovered by a hunting, shooting fishing Squire who noticed that where his pack of fox hounds had been chewing their bones the grass grew greener, so ordered ground bones to be spread on his fields.
