crabgrass preventer

in the middle of last October I overseeded my front lawn and it came up pretty nicely. I read somewhere that some of that seed applied in October will actually come up now for the first time. Assuming this is true, should I apply starter fertilizer with crabgrass preventer to the front lawn as opposed to the regular crabgrass preventive for established lawns which is not compatible with new seed ?

Crabgrass preventers are suppose to target weed seeds, but they can and will prevent germination of lawn grass seed, too.
