Hi! I live in NE New Mexic and have really sandy soil in my garden. We have a very dry desert climate here. My husband has a huge pile of corn silage on our farm, and we were wondering if he could bring a couple loader buckets of silage and dump on the garden, and we could till it in. Has anyone used corn silage as mulch or compost? I can't find anything about it anywhere!

When I was a kid it was one of my chores to chop down all of the corn stalks and pile it onto our compost pile. It makes great compost and today commercial farmers till and incorporate it into their soil. Its good stuff.
