I have found that as I get older, I am more competitive. As a youngster I would not have dreamed of challenging myself like that. In my 30-40s I started entering baking competitions, while mild success. I was in the Best Apple Pie of New England contest twice and won various firsts in local contests. In my 50s I started showing cats. Now, in my 60s we have the pandemic and being in a high risk group, I can't go to cat shows. I have found a little solace in entering photo contests. The one I entered recently is soon over and my photo (cat of course since one of the sponsors is the Cat Fanciers Association) was in first place in the voting for awhile, but has since dropped. Last time I checked was 5th place. No prize for that! I haven't found any gardening competitions other than friendly competition with the neighbors (who all use landscapers). Have any of you gotten more competitive with getting older?
