Citronella shaded dropped leaves

I'm new to established garden and thought I'd shade a lovely lush citronella bush/creeper, not realising it likes full son. It's now lost all leaves and will not grow back. Bark looks green when scratched. I placed eggshells at base recently. We're going into winter.

How do I revive this plant. Please help... rented house and worried killed plant.
