Hi everyone. My Christmas flower used to be full of tiny white flying pests. I washed them away with water and wash up liquid. Almost all of them are gone except for afew. Now my plant looks like the pictures attached to this post. Would anyone help me please and tell me how to get rid of the rest of the pests and make my flower healthy again?

I`m afraid I can`t see the pests you speak of, but imagine they could be whitefly. If so, you have plainly done the right thing already to dispose of them, and maybe if a few are persisting you could give your plant another spray as before.

Thanks Tetters. I gave them another spray 3 days ago. Now all of them are gone. Is there any way to restore its healthy look again? It doesn't look as healthy and beautiful as before.

It looks pretty good to me - I cannot keep those plants for the life of me. I`m sure if you talk nicely to it and feed and water it the same as you have always done it will pick up nicely (y)

Thanks for your nice replies. It used to be more beautiful. By the way, how can I make new plants out of it in new pots? When is the best time to do it and how should I do it?

The best time to do this is in the spring or early summer. The poinsettia is a member of the euphorbia family, and the sap can be an irritant to the skin - don`t get it in your eyes! Take fresh green shoots at about 3 inches and trim beneath a node with a sharp clean knife or secateurs. Rooting compound can be beneficial, but I don`t bother with it myself. Put cuttings around the outside of a pot of compost and set in a bright place but out of direct sun. Some people might start these cutting in water because of the nasty sap, and pot them up when they have formed some roots. Remove the lower leaves of the cutting which ever way you decide.
