Hello,
I have a strip of an area in my home where the gas lines run underneath. There used to be bushes there until a hurricane ruined everything so I pulled out all the plants. There is a layer of rocks above the soil throughout. The area is about 20ft x 3ft.
I would like ideas on plants I can use with fibrous or creeping root systems. My initial ideas are banana trees in an area that I'd like shade in--the neighbor's trees on the other side of the fence gave shade for some shade plants I have until the hurricane brought them down. I am also partial towards agave plants.
Please give me some ideas. I am in Miami, Florida, so it gets hot. My idea is throw a layer of new soil on top of the rocks, possibly a good 2-4 inches of soil. I could also remove the rocks.
