Yesterday, we harvested carrots, peppers, beans, and some tomatoes. These vegetables may be the last to harvest this year, as it is going to frost tomorrow. But I have taken some precautions in saving the pepper plants, fig trees, and the greens. In a previous post, I showed you how I am protecting the potted greens with glass panes.
I am using a garden cloth to cover the fig trees and also the lettuce garden; and I am using a transparent plastic sheet to cover the entire row of peppers. I really want to save these plants for another week or two at least.
The avocados growing around the yard and also the eggplants were transplanted into a pot. I have the avocado plants inside the house, and the other tropical plants are inside or in the greenhouse. I covered the potted eggplants with a plastic cone. The cone was actually my dog's cone that she had to use after her surgery, so I figured I would repurpose it.

The pictures below are what we harvested yesterday.

Amazing harvest! Gosh, seeing all this make me really have enough space to grow edibles :( I've said it before and I will say it again: those who have plenty space in their home to grow all they please are truly blessed.

Your posts are such an inspiration to me. I have nowhere near this level of gardening haul but it makes me want to work harder and get more involved in my garden to get to this point. I don't have all that much space right now to plant as much as I want to, but when I finally get to have my dream home a big yard is something that's absolutely on the list of requirements.

During the summer I have 3 big gardens, and I am working building a food forest on 0.6 acres of land. That is precious land no matter how small, because some people only have a porch, and some people have nothing. I am fortunate with the opportunity to grow food.

I live on 0.6 acres of land where I have a big garden and fruit trees all over, and small patches of food growing in places around the yard, and also a container (bucket) garden.
To those who have no land, but have a south facing porch or patio, you can grow lettuce, arugula, carrots, radishes, and all sorts of your favorite greens or vegetables in buckets or garden pots. You could fit up to 20 containers on a medium sized porch.

I'm always envious whenever I would see photos of harvests. I have that feeling that we could also have those kind of harvest if only we have a bigger garden. I especially like carrots because we only had planted carrots once and it yielded a small root. With tomatoes and pepper, our mortal enemy is the aphids that thrive underneat the leaves. It's a spoiler and if neglected can destroy the plants.

That's a good point - I need to incorporate more container gardening into my life. I figure all those things growing well would mean that I would rarely have to buy my own salad ingredients at the store, and that would be a big saving!

These are awesome. It looks like you're going to have a lot of nice dishes in your future. Those carrots are adorable and are going to make for a delicious snack. There is nothing quite like carrots from your own garden.

Wow, you are super busy! And yes, some people have a very little or no space to work, you guys are very lucky you can grow your own food, you don't have to spend a lot on organic food :) I wish I could do the same, plus I bet it's so satisfying to be able to say you grow your own food.

These look great! Can you give me advice on how you grow your peppers? I tried to grow them this past year but it was a total fail. They came in so small and tasteless.

I also heard that growing green peppers is easier then colorful (is this true?). However, I would prefer to grow colorful peppers (red, yellow and orange) as I think these have more taste.

Any advice would be great!

Wonderful harvest and I bet you are pleased to see them! There is something about picking your own vegetables from the garden that always gives me a smile when I see it.
