I have planted cantaloupe on a whim. The seeds were from a very sweet cantaloupe so I got the seeds and sowed them in the backyard. Now the cantaloupe vines all look very healthy so my experiment on the soil had paid off. But what bothers me are the flowers - they are all flowers but no sign of fruit. My husband said that cantaloupe like gourd and loofah have 2 kinds of flowers - the male and the female. Well, it looks like all I have are male flowers which can only be good as decoration.

Any ideas?

Afaik, all cucurbits put out male-only flowers first, in an attempt at cross-pollination.
Unless your plant is badly stressed, this is normal and there'll be female flowers along, and enough males to pollinate them, soon.
