I'm going for the tropical/lush look with Canna Lilies against a fence.

• How far apart should I plant them to get this look?
• How far from the fence should I plant them?

I don't think it matters, because they spread via rhizomes, so eventually they will all be very, very close together.

Finally another Canna lover joins the forum!

Spacing depends on where you live, and the look you want to achieve.
I'm in zone 5 and whatever I don't pull in the Fall dies so, because I'm dealing with a very short growing season, if I want a thick wall I have to plant the rhizomes about a foot apart.

Groups of cannas should be planted about a foot or two apart.
