Can I still plant?

Hi, this is a very simple question. I wanted to plant seedlings to grow beautiful flowers over the summer, but I never started them indoors when the little seed packets told me to. Same thing happened to me last year, I think something in my brain just doesn't register that I am supposed to plant seeds before the last frost! So I have several packets of seeds I would like to plant, but if I plant them now, would it be "pointless"? Would the plants only finally reach their blooming period right before it gets to cold for them? Thanks in advance for any help! One of the plants I specifically want to grow is Snapdragons.

I'm not cultivated flower department (wild flowers are my thing) but the Toadflax, a relative of Snapdragons, lasts into November, it was flowering when my Daughter was born but the mrs wouldn't let me name her that :(

Well, you have the seeds, and if you don't plant them, they won't flower. I'd go ahead and put them in a prepared flower bed, keep the soil moist until they get their first set of true leaves, and then hope they do something for you before first frost.
Zigs, I was born in Illinois in August and am just so lucky my name isn't "Corn."

Oh Zigs, question with the wildflower. A friend sent me to American Meadows, an online site for wildflowers. I want to plant them in my flower bed but I have cedar mulch in there. Can I pull the mulch, throw the seeds, step on them, and cover with cedar or can I fling them in the mulch or door number 3 (that's the no wildflowers for me door).

Zigs - I had never heard of the Toadflax before and just looked it up! What beautiful flowers - you should have tried to make it her middle name! ;) Also, is there a difference in how you would grow/take care of wild flowers vs. cultivated? There are a few wild flowers I want to have at some point.

Marlingardener - Thanks, I guess I might as well try and if I get nowhere then at least I know. :)

Wildflowers usually need bare disturbed soil, no mulch :)

Her name is Poppy Hemlock :)
