Hi folks

We're pretty keen to add some tropical flair to our garden and apparently Trachycarpus fortunei (windmill palm) will do well in our less than tropical climate!

We have this palm quite nearby us, which would be ideal:-

But I'm not sure that this definitely is Trachycarpus fortunei as the trunk seems a bit different from what I see when I look up images of the plant, e.g:-

The trunk of whatever it is in the google maps image seems to be pretty thin and regular bark by the looks of it, whereas the second image there shows the Trachycarpus fortunei trunk having some sort of whispy straw / grass stuff growing around the trunk.

Therefore I think the plant we are interested in from the first google image is actually something else. Is there anyone with expertise re palm trees on here who could maybe point me in the right direction of what that first plant is?

Thank you.

The plant in the picture is Cordyline australis, sometimes called Dracaena Palm or Cabbage Tree. Not actually a palm.
Trachycarpus has actual palm fronds.
That's great - thank you.

I'm sure I recognise that name as all the garden centres around here have been selling a red variant of that name when I've been looking recently...
