Can anyone identify this plant please?

Have just received this from a friend can any one tell me what it is ? they told me it was a sprout plant but im not convinced.

it's something in the cabbage family, probably kale or napa

I would be inclined to believe your friend, after all if they gave you the plant they must know what it is. It is no good planting it now, but I would suggest that you might be able to harvest the seeds in those pods and see if you can get them to germinate. You never know, you might be able to grow an acre of sprouts Good luck!
