Hi all,
I'm hoping for some guidance as to what's going on with my very poorly-looking camellia. I'm in York.
It was in a large pot for a couple of years but it was developing few buds, many of which fell off before flowering. I planted it out last autumn into acidic soil where a pieris and rhododendron have thrived. The soil is clay. It developed many buds this year, and many flowered, but the petals where white white rather than pink as they're supposed to be.
In mid-April, the leaves started getting blemishes and now (mid-May), things have gotten really bad. Many of the leaves are curling and brown. Plenty have fallen off. I've only watered once this year as we've had so much rainfall.
From my research, it sounds like several things could be responsible, but too much heat certainly ain't the problem! One potentially relevant bit of info is that a very old apple tree that's about 5 metres away has honey fungus growing around its trunk every year and is on its way out. I wonder if it's travelled over to the camellia.
Any advice much appreciated!
Jack
