Cactus identification

Hi, I've just got this stem from a friend but he wasn't able to name the species. It looks to me like one of the epifitic cacti, but I am not sure...

Please let me know if you have any idea of what species it may be.
Also, I wonder if I made it right in order to propagate it. I have just put it in a regular potting mix and keep it moist but not soggy.

oneeye, thank you for your answer. I asked my freind about the plant the stem comes from, and he says it's a trailing cactus, so I think it may be something else.
