So I broke down and spot sprayed some of my lawn with a pre-mix 2-4D by Ortho yesterday. I sprayed it around 7 PM. Some time between 10:45 PM and 1 AM it rained about 3/4".

Product was Ortho Weedclear
  • 2,4-D, dimethylamine salt: 0.313%
  • Quinclorac: 0.104%
  • Dicamba, dimethylamine salt: 0.029%

Ortho packaging states this is rain fast in an hour. About 19 hours later I see some effect on some weeds.

Few questions:
1) Did the rain wipe out most of the efficacy even though it was 5+ hours of the 1 hr stated?
2) How effective will this be on the hard to kill things like "creeping charlie"

thanks guys

No way to know. Depends on on concentration and temperature. Just wait and watch. It will become obvious in a week or 3. Remember, in your haste to kill quickly, it is not the design to kill quickly. Rather the makers prefer to sneak up on it and use jjjuuuusssstttt enough. They are toxic and hormonal and every disruptive thing. That quinclorac lasts for years in the soil.
