Box Hedge Caterpillar Disease

Hello. My box hedges in my front garden have been 90% decimated by caterpillars.

Most sites tell you how to avoid getting, or get rid off, box hedge caterpillar disease but I would like to know what I need to do next now the disease has destroyed everything. Do I have to cut it all down or dig it all out or if I leave it, does it grow back? Thank you.

I don't know what leaving it would do, my friend's was so badly affected he cut it down to ground level thinking to replace it and it grew back. I wouldn't guarantee that would always happen mind.
