This is a good idea to save the knees and back when you design your garden.

Box Frame Fence Planting: Not enough sun? Can't bend to garden? Have pets or animal visitors that destroy your plants? Use your fence as a Vertical Garden by making simple framed boxes with a shelf to elevate plants for more sun & easy access. A great garden feature too. Those boxes look like paintings, they're beautiful! I'm thinking about making something like this:) I really need more space for my plants. Thank you for the inspiration:)

These boxes are just fantastic and great ideas. They look easy enough to put together but my problem is the walls of my house are brick :(

I like it, it looks really rustic and nice, greart if you are lacking space and love to work on DIY projects (hey, that is me!). I might try this in my new garden. Looks lovely, I think you can get different results depending on the materials you use and your imagination.
