i live on a very elevated site. Its surrounded by a very high granite wall. my garden is flush with the top of the wall. i am planning to grow a portugese laurel hedge inside wall. Because the boundary is so long i am planning to plant a length of hedge , then an open flower bed then apiece of hedge , a piece of rustic fencing .hedge ,fence hedge, fence. Do you think this will work

Welcome to the forum @brid :) I wonder if you could post some photos on here for us please. It would make it easier to visualise the plot - it sounds a bit different/complicated.

That looks great to me - I can see what you mean now. I think I would choose Griselinia instead of the Laurel. It is easier to clip and stays nice and tight to keep the wind out.
The fence in between would serve nicely as ''windows'' looking out as long as the view is good to look at.
Good luck with it. Have you taken any ''before'' photos, so that you can compare when the job is complete ?
