Could you please help me to identify if the growth on the blackberry roots in the attached pictures is Blackberry (Rubus spp.)-Crown and Cane Gall disease or tissue overgrowths caused by excessive callus formation at wound sites? Thanks.

It certainly looks like crown gall. Have you noticed any galls on the canes and what does the fruit look like?

No, I haven't noticed anything on the cane, and I haven't seen the fruit yet. I received this Blackberry (Natchez variety) from the nursery a few days ago.

I would take it back and get a refund. You might take the plant to your county extension agent to make sure its crown disease first but it sure looks like it.

I contacted my county extension agent, waiting for reply. Thank you for your time and assistance.
