We've looked it up in our bird book but can't identify this new bird on our patio.
It's possibly a young female blackbird, but we've not seen one as light in colour as that before.

Any help would be appreciated.

Agreed, that chest is typical, the Mistle has rounder spots as they go down and a pale edge to the wing, though I am not sure that would show on a young one. Nice, hope he stays around.

I trimmed up a large 'leylandi' type bush in the front garden and was sitting indoors looking out the window when I saw a female sparrow flying here and there across it and then making darting movements into it. Another joined her, and then I realised my trimming had removed a protective top layer and they were enjoying the insects and arachnids I had exposed.
