Berry Growth Question

Hello there, I have a plant and would love to see if anyone has some advice.

I purchased a 2 yr. old Tayberry plant online a couple of months ago and have placed it in a large half whiskey barrel. The plant itself started growing leaves around it's base, but I haven't seen any growth or change in the two sticks and the leaf growth seems to have declined or possibly stopped all together. The plant is still green with bright and sturdy leaves, but I want to make sure that I can continue to encourage it to grow especially as our weather heats up. If you have any experience with and berry I would love to hear your suggestions.

Too early to worry.
It's possible that your Tayberry may be a primocane variety, so the old wood is useless.
Look for new basal stem shoots.
