Bamboo !

I just purchased a new home . When I came to look at the property I totally looked over the fact that there is bamboo growing like crazy in the back of my yard . It's starting to pop up alover my yard . Hoe can I kill it ?

"Hoe" can you kill it?

Not by using a hoe. You need a sharp shovel and a good set of long-handled, sharp loppers. it will take you a couple years, but keep at it. We have a stand of Golden Bamboo which is about 60' long x 3' wide. The bamboo has been there for at least 70 years. We keep it under control with vigilant pruning.

PLEASE DO NOT toxify your environment and thereby harm your soil and wildlife by using crap like Roundup. Just get out there and dig the stuff up. Think of it as good, healthy exercise and even a form of meditation. You can do it.

Once you chop it down, go ahead and cover the spot with a sturdy tarp or some thick black plastic. Keeping it in the dark for a few months can really help weaken it and, in the end, can even kill it off.
