New gardener....
This western Azalea is about 4 years old. It gets 2 flowers on it every year, same place, never any more, has not grown any larger, or taller...I have fertilized it every year, seams healthy enough. Wordering how to get more blooms, and if anyone knows if it's a spring flowering shrub?

What time of year does your azalea bloom? Are you using a general purpose fertilizer or one specifically for azaleas? Something like Osmocote could help promote more blooms, but just putting down banana peels to boost the plant's potassium levels could also. There's a liquid plant food called "Blooming and rooting," if you're in a hurry, but in general, flowering plants need potassium and calcium.

Thank you, It blooms in spring, I just bought something to help my roses and clematis bloom so I will add some to the azalea next year in early spring..I guess there's no pint in adding it now if it's done blooming right?

Spread a little composted cow manure around the base, I use 3 cups per plant, it will help the soil and feed your azalea. I would start out using about 2 cups this year and then next spring use 3 cups.

Azaleas are known as the "Royalty of the Garden" and is there really any wonder why? These plants produce blooms that inspire poets to compose and painters to weep with joy. From brilliant and jubilant pink to luscious peach and velvety lavender, these plants produce blooms are breathtaking to behold.
Plant your azaleas in late spring or early fall. These are the best times to plant azaleas, as most azaleas will bloom in the next spring. However, there are some varieties, like the ‘Weston’s Lemon Drop’ and ‘Flame Creeper’ that will bloom in June or July.
‘Sweet September’, which is a pink bloom, is a very late bloomer that bursts into color in September, as the name suggests.
