Avacado tree question

I put my avacado tree outside for summer, it did not grow leaves but grew this instead. I don't know what it is. See pic

Your tree was trying to put on flowers as a defense mechanism. It is not a happy plant, probably due to a nutrition problem or the lack thereof. Also, temperatures and length of sunlight are of major concern for avocado's and Wisconsin is NOT the place of choice for avocado growth.
