This may seem trivial but I have several plants in large pots that I need to protect over winter. I don't have a greenhouse and have not enough space indoors for these pots.

I do have large plastic cloches that just fit over these pots but blow off unless tethered. I have simply stuck them on with parcel tape but this is a pain when wanting to access the plants.

The cloches have holes for pegging to the ground and these sit on the rim of the plastic pot. I did attempt to use clothes pegs to secure the cloche and pot rims together but no peg I had could grip.

I guess some kind of weighted peg through these holes would prevent the wind blowing them off but I need a cheap solution. Any ideas?

Only thing I can think of is to put the pot inside a bigger pot, apply the cloche then put stones on the edges to hold it down. Might due?

Is there a hole in the top of the cloche to prevent condensation? I put a bamboo through that. Well, actually I use large plastic bottles with the bottom cut off and put the cane through the bottle neck, but it is 'the same difference'.
In a saucer you could water from below.
