So I’ve had my areca palm almost two years, it used to be so full and bushy. I had a mealy bug infestation that lasted about 8 months and now my leaves are going light green to yellow to brown. I’m watering when the soil is dry to my knuckle on my hand, and I have moved it to a less sunny spot in my living room. Can anyone help?

I'm no expert but when parts of my plants begin to have a few leaves change color on me, I trim the dead parts off so the rest of the plant can remain healthy. This way it's not constantly putting all it's efforts into healing. It does look like sunburn, but you mentioned the mealy bugs, so it could also benefit from sprinkling diatomaceous earth on the leaves and soil.

I think it's a Parlor Palm and could use more light, though not lots of direct sun. It should be within 5' of a window or 2' of a plant light. A good leaching might help if you've been feeding it much. It could go outside on a shady porch for the summer to recuperate from the mealybugs and whatever treatment you used.
