I believe this is an Apple tree in my son's new garden in Ohio. I know next to nothing about fruit trees so could someone identify the disease please.

I hope I am wrong but this looks like alternaria blotch.

Have him take a small LIMB with affected leaves to a local REAL nursery, not a box store for definitive proof
