Anniversary present

Hi folks, hope you can help. I have my 5 year wedding anniversary coming up. As the traditional gift is wood i was thinking a tree we could plant in our garden to grow with us. Problem is we plan on moving in around 6 months so can anyone recommend a tree that can stay potted for 6 months before being planted? We live outside of Glasgow, Scotland so nothing that needs year round sun to survive! Thanks

By way of expanding ideas, I saw a tree in a pot that only possibly would fit in the back of my pickup truck. It was all on a rather beefy roll around dolly with 4 or 5 inch wheels. It appeared the homeowner would wheel it into his garage for winter, since the garage had a commercial 12 foot tall door. Large potting would be useful, IF you could sort out the moving of the weight.
