Yes, they are lights. Not sure how the rigging is of lights, could be a small battery .

Esther, I also often follow the Amish on my way to/from work. Most always it is one horse pulling the buggy. One day a week ago, I looked in my rear view mirror after passing, and saw, to my surprise, that the horse was joined by a foal!! So cute to see the baby "learning the yokes" with its mother! Reminded me of "Take your child to work" day!!

@Becky, the Amish originally fought the idea of having headlights and taillights, (as being too modern,) but so many of them were killed by people zipping along country roads at night, they finally installed them for their own safety.

I couldn't tell from Esther's video, but the ones here have rear view mirrors, too.

I will have to look closer the see if there are rear view mirrors. Where I lived in Ohio, many years ago, very little Amish lived near us, not like where I live now.
