My strawberry bed, full of traditional very tasty strawberries, has got a bit out of hand and very time consuming to keep in check, so plan to reduce the number of traditional strawberries and replace them with some Alpine strawberries, as they are more compact, don't put out runners and although the fruit is smaller than traditional strawberries, fruit for a longer period of time.
The original strawberry patch started, many years ago, with the gift of a few strawberry plants from a friend, and I have no idea what variety they are, all I know is they are some of the sweetest and juiciest I've known, for this reason I have been searching for an Alpine strawberry that will at least come close to being the tastiest around.
The favorite Alpine strawberry that keeps cropping up everywhere is ' Migonette ' and probably is the one I will go with, but some other options would be good, if anyone has any.
Has anyone grown ' Migonette ' ? If so, were the fruits the best you ever tasted and was the plant well behaved?

Thanks for the warning Zigs. Had I not known otherwise, I would've thought you were winding me up.

I perhaps, should have said, the 'majority' of Alpine strawberry plants don't put out runners, and that does include the variety Migonette, that I am proposing to grow.

However, there are a few varieties that may put out runners, particularly when they are planted less than 2.5 ft apart,
apparently this stresses the plant and causes it to change its non runner characteristics.

Alpine strawberry plants need much more room than traditional Strawberry plants. The more room you give them, the more abundant the crop will be.
