I purchased 4 blue fortune last year and they all came back but everything I have read and the labels that came with them say they grow to 3 feet tall but mine are 5 feet tall and the flower spikes are not as big as they were last year. Has anyone had experience with this or know what might be going on? Thanks

I find agastaches often grow taller in their second year but, of course, it depends on the weather. More rain will produce taller plants.
I pinch agastaches back...delays flowering by a couple of weeks but produces stronger and more floriferous stems.
Marsha, the flowers will prob get bigger as the season progresses (y)

We have had a lot of rain this spring, thank you for the tip. When should I pinch them back, I'd like to try this instead of moving them next year. I'd like to keep them no taller then 4 feet if possible without losing flower production

Still not too late to lightly pinch out the tips but I pinch out in early spring and again in late spring. I am a great believer in pinching most everything back Marsha :)

Thanks! I will definitely give it a try now and next spring. I was shocked at how tall they got. I guess you can't always go by labels which is very frustrating when trying to figure out were to plant.

As you can see they are taller than trumpet lily and milkweed that is right next to it, I just don't understand it.

I was thinking maybe the plant was growing to get at more light, which is sometimes the case, but apparently not, since it seems like they get plenty of sun. I'm at a loss for an explanation, since I've only grown this plant once and I've not been able to find anywhere on the net of anyone having this experience of this plant growing to such a height.

Does it still a great attract bees in great numbers?

Yes the bees seem to like it. Will blue fortune transplant easy? I am thinking of switching places with the swamp milkweed that is right next to it since it is taller.

Agastaches resent being moved Marsha ...I have done it but they are basically short lived plants so cuttings every year or two are important.
By the fall any cuttings you take now will have rooted to provide flowering plants for next year :)
