I'm looking for some affordable tips on landscaping. I don't really have the funds to hire anyone to do it. However, I want a beautiful yard like everyone else. So what are some tips on landscaping on a budget.

Are you talking lawn, plants, maintainence, planting, getting started, fixing something wrong? We need a starting place to help and where you are located

Depends on what you want to do really and the space you've got to work with. Do you have any photos of your garden?

What type of theme are you interested in having in your space. I saw one of my neighbor made a large circle with bricks and planted tall wild flowers it was very stunning. I thought I might like something like that next spring.

You see the shows on how people have multiply functions in their yards. I would love an outdoor kitchen and dining area, fire pit, kid area, and lounging area for when I am good and full from my meal. Any Ideas?

First thing I suggest is doing it all yourself. It can cost alot to hire a landscaper. Second, I suggest buying things for your garden or lawn when they are on sale. Look for great clearance sales at the end of the different seasons. Those are just some general rules. If we knew more about what you are looking to do, that would help better.

I just want some low maintenance stuff. Maybe a bird bath with a little color around it. I don't like when the bees come around, so probably no flowers, just colored hostas or something like that.

You can get some nice granite or slate rocks for free if there are mountains around where you live, or some driftwood and rocks from the ocean to make borders with. Just make sure you look online first as there are some places where it is illegal to take these items. Another cheap way to get landscaping materials is to find reclaimed bricks and cinderblocks from construction areas. Some construction sites will give you these for free because they have to pay to haul and get rid of them. There are also some nuseries and non profit organizations that promote greener living that will give you starter bushes and trees free of charge.

Thanks, I have got some reclaimed brick for my fire-pit, but I am in Minnesota, so there is no nice granite or drift wood in my area. Thanks for the tip, maybe I will hunt around to homes that are remodeling and ask.
