Some people mix and blend material to compost more quickly/efficiently. Others, like me, simply pile it up and leave it until it seems done. I think the end product is not too different, with the exception that getting it over a certain heat kills seeds better. Personally I don't mind a few weed seedlings, I hoe them in thinking 'green manure' to myself.
