Purchased 8 Romaine lettuce plants from a supplier and placed in the outdoor garden. These plants mature at the same time. I make juice out of the ones not eaten fresh. They get quite large, are perfect quality, and can take a bit of cool weather.

Over here all romaine sold since 4-16-2018 is to be tossed out due to e coli infection. You may have just planted a cash crop.

I have the Lettuce and Basil grow indoor, under with the mars ECO grow light. Before the pics were taken I had to trim the Basil. 1 week under the light, HUGE difference from my normal grow fixture, which was a 120 watt fluorescent. The led light is vastly superior.

I grow in a tray from seed, and plant out from the tray.
Easier than buying them and getting them home.
