The current garden vegetables available at this time are potatoes, edible pod peas and kale. Usually vegetables are steam cooked or baked. The steamer is an insert placed in a pot with water added not touching the contents. A Dutch oven is used for baking. The vein was removed from the kale, since it can be tough. The potatoes cook at 400F for an hour, maybe longer if the potato is large.

The veins in kale are excellent julienned & stir-fried.
I like them with garlic, ginger, onion, mushroom and beansprouts and noodles.

Beets and edible pod peas were picked for the table.The peas were set aide for another meal. The beets were cut from the plants being careful not to cut the root to prevent bleeding when cooking.When cooked they are cooled under cold water and the skins slid of. The tops were steamed cooked separately.
